I never thought I would try a mousse foundation product because, well, I’m afraid that in my early morning grogged out state I might accidentally try to style my hair with it. I guess I’m a traditionalist. Even power foundation totally confuses me.

But objectively, there’s so much to love about mousse foundations, which boast benefits such as easy and light application and a natural looking finish. Skin79 Chiffon BB Mousse does all of those things and more.

Like all Skin79 BB creams, Skin79 Chiffon BB Mousse offers great skin benefits. The product description states that it is made with glacial water and coral water which cools damaged and irritated skin, and mistletoe extract, Swiss alpine herbs help maintain the skin’s water balance.

A light pump of the applicator releases microscopic air bubble infused, super fine mousse. You really need to watch how hard you press the applicator because this stuff goes a long way.

Smoothing the mousse over your skin, the air bubbles gradually dissipate and you are left with a perfectly even and perfectly blended layer. The product is non-greasy and is moisture infused and does not emphasize flakiness.

beforeafterDespite the lightness of this product, the coverage is impressive and comparable to Skin79 Orange Super BB Cream (and for that matter, Skin79 Hot Pink Super BB Cream). Under-eye shadows and blemishes are much reduced, and it’s particularly effective in neutralising redness.

The finish is decidedly dewy. If you don’t like that look, a little power over the top renders it matte.

Unfortunately, Chiffon BB Mousse is not very waterproof. It’s also vulnerable to wearing off during the day.

What I love most about this product is how natural it looks and feels. It really doesn’t look like I’m wearing anything at all.

IMG_4965Though I have an aversion to non-traditional forms of foundation products, I was really impressed with Skin 79 Chiffon BB Mousse. It’s a great product for summer due to its lightness, and of course the SPF 30 PA++ sun protection.

The good news:

  • Perfect smooth application
  • Medium coverage that’s very effective on redness
  • Lightweight and looks extremely natural
  • Very dewy finish, but can be worn matte with powder
  • Non-greasy
  • Does not emphasize dry and flaky areas

The not so good news:

  • Not water proof
  • Limited staying power
