With Canberra’s Annual fashion festival, FASHFEST 2014 drawing ever closer (first day on 31 April!), I’m spotlighting a few of the designers who will be showing in the four day event. Now, the new collections are still all in the works, but I’m able to give you a little taste of what to expect.
This is part 2 of my collaboration with Canberra Designer Corr Blimey – headed by designers Steve Wright and Louisa de Smet (read part 1 here). Oh and did I mention that Steve is senior lecturer at the Canberra Institute of Technology fashion school?
I’m just slightly obsessed with Corr Blimey’s hand painted mirror image logo T shirts. The first time I tried one on I didn’t even realise it was mirror image, considering that it showed up the right way around in the mirror – talk about mind-fudged! I love the rough painterly quality of the lettering and the stark contracts of the bright red on white – which I tried to echo via my blood red NP Set lippy. I can never get enough of over-sized men’s tees because they give a slouchy-cool fit money can’t buy. Some rolling and tucking perfects the boxy silhouette, and instinctively, you want to juxtapose with body con bottoms.
Corr Blimey will be showing at this year’s FASHFEST (30 April to 3 May 2014). The location for the annual fashion event is worth a mention – Canberra Airport will be providing a huge, beautifully designed space, which will be transformed to house FASHFEST’s highly anticipated fashion parades. Get your tickets here before they sell out!
Also, read my post detailing all the types of tickets up for grabs.
