In 2013, FASHFEST Canberra sought to bring a major annual fashion festival to Canberra. With sell out seats and very positively received runway shows, FASHFEST’s first year was a huge success. This year, the four night (now five nights) event was anticipated to be bigger and better than the last.
Last night, night one of FASHFEST Canberra 2014 finished up with a buzz in the air. WND.LND showed a very literal, playful collection inspired by ice cream and Rockstars & Royalty, Canberra’s own couturier and corsetière, took us through a fairy tale of witches and angles. A number of designers new to FASHFEST showed diverse collections from vintage inspired swimwear (Darling Sisters) to wearable work wear (Reneira). StageLable, a unique and up and coming ‘Crowdfunding for Fashion’ company gave FASHFEST audiences a taste of the talent that has already joined its ranks, from designers, Bronson Atkin, Helani Sarath-Kumara and Adam Liew.
I’ll stop there and just let the pictures do the talking! Here are some of my favourite shots from the runway at Night one of FASHFEST Canberra 2014.
Will I see you on nights 2-4? Check if tickets are still available at the FASHFEST website!
