Though Canberra label HUNTER is not showing at FASHFEST this year, I still felt I had to spend one night in their beautiful styles. On Night 2 of FASHFEST, Heather from Heatstorm Blog and I twinned in head to toe HUNTER. You’ve got to check out her outfit too – her blog.

The designer behind HUNTER is Sara Wurker, who sews almost all the pieces personally, often from tactile upholstery fabrics, is constantly pumping out new designs. A lot of people don’t seem to know that these items can be purchased right here in Canberra, at Wildwood, at the Lonsdale Street Traders on Lonsdale Street, Braddon. If you’re into matchy matchy cropped T shirts, high waisted shorts and cute little pleated trousers, then get yourself down there, because her pieces sell fast. HUNTER’s newest piece for winter is the Kimono Coat, inspired by Japanese haori, which I wore on Thursday night – on the shoulders, of course.

FASHFEST was also kind enough to offer bloggers makeup and hair by its amazing team of makeup artists and hair stylists team. My makeup was by Dijana Vardos, who was not only amazing at her job but was such a wonderful person. We discussed the dilemma  of many makeup artists not being able to adjust their technique to suit Asian features. Dijana, however, completely got me. She gave me a subtle smokey eye with tight eyeliner and a strong lip. It’s the kind of look I would do for myself any day, if only I had her skill.

My hair was a simple messy fishtail braid by none other than the Director of Hair at FASHFEST, Wayne Friend (great last name!), who is Principal Partner at Form Haircutters. I loved his reaction when I asked if he do a braid. Apparently it’s all been about braids since New York Fashion Week, and while Wayne loved them, he had just about had enough of them. As Director of Hair, Wayne not only designs all the hair styles, based on mood boards provided by FASHFEST, but he also coordinates all the complex model hair changes when they have to walk for more than one designer. Tough job!

Maybe one day I’ll warm to mixed prints (probably not), but it’s a gorgeous outfit anyway.

I love that coat more than anything I’ve seen in a long while, and they should be paying you to model their shorts . . .
