Whether it’s pointed or open toe, stiletto, block or wedge heeled, bootie or strapped, you’ve got to love the mule. The mule of the season is streamlined and modern, and slots in perfectly with this year’s minimalism trend. There are so many amazing styles to choose from right now, but I’ve done all the hard work for you and selected the best of the mules from 2014, from chain store styles you can afford now, splurges to save up for, and steals for under $50. This is your mule shopping guide!

Affordable (under $200)

Topshop and Zara hands down have the mules of the year for me. I love Topshop’s ‘Gabi’ pointed stiletto mule shooties, and Zara’s block heel open toe take. Charles & Keith has also well and truly got my attention with their marble print chelsea style mule. Also check out Tony Bianco’s ‘Fayme’ transparent strap mules – a great dupe for Gianvito Rossi (below), at a third of the price!

Splurge (over $200)

While we’re crossing our fingers for a re-release of the sold out Altuzarra multi-strapped mules, there are still so many amazing investment pieces to choose from, from the best designer brands. Alexander Wang, as far as I’m concerned, is king of the mules at the moment, with his ‘Alla’ open toe mules and cult ‘Marsha’ strappy mules (now on sale at 50% on Net-a-Porter!). Gianvito Rossi is also a favourite, which has perfected the two strap pointed mule.

Steal (under $50)

An on-trend mule doesn’t have to be a splurge. Here are some amazing styles at below $50!

Thanks SO much for taking the time to include all the links to these awesome mules (I know how time consuming it is to hunt down links for products)! I especially like how you separated them by price for those of us who spend *way* too much on staple pieces and can’t afford yet another pair of expensive but gorgeous black heeled sandals. I’m hunting down those Zara mules before they go out of stock, for sure! 🙂
