One of the aims of my Thrift of the Week post series is to demonstrate how you can dress amazingly, on a minuscule budget, while at the same time living in a sustainable way by reusing second hand clothes. And I mean amazingly. I get a little frustrated with people who poo poo thrifting (shopping at op-shops) with lame reasons like ‘I never find anything I like’, ‘second hand clothes are always in a bad condition’ or ‘I can’t find things in my size’. Take this pastel pink jumper for example. Not only is it right on trend (pastel pink is the new black) and fits beautifully, but it’s also in as new condition. As far as I’m concerned, this pastel pink jumper could have come right off the racks at Zara. But for $7 rather than $50 (or more), I’m definitely glad that it didn’t. So go ahead, give your local op-shop a good, proper try. If you don’t find something you absolutely love, I’ll gladly eat my hat.
Pastel pink is a surprising new essential element of the minimalist wardrobe. In my view, in the right shade (the paler the better), almost any pastel pink piece can be worked into a monochrome outfit with a harmonising effect. I wore this thrifted pastel pink jumper with all white separates – my good ol’ Witchery relaxed blazer and flared skirt thanks to Dead Ivy. These Céline lookalike chunky heeled loafers were an eBay cheapie.
I have to thank Heather from Heat Storm Blog on four accounts for this outfit. First, for taking these beautiful photos. Second, for selling me my beloved vintage fur clutch at her garage sale a while back. Third, for picking out this pastel pink jumper for me at the Belconnen Salvos. Forth, for lending me these Sportsgirl wayfarer sunglasses to top off this outfit. I’d emo’d out and thrown away all my sunnies recently because none of them suited me. Am I the only one who has trouble in the sunglasses territory?

Isn’t it?! I normally would not wear fur, but vintage is sort of ok in my books…
