As much as I’m a warm weather creature, I must admit that, in the most superficial sense possible, I love living in a cool climate where wearing big coats is a ‘thing’. Although, being originally from sunny Perth, it took me a while to figure out the skill that is winter layering. There are so many things to think about – proportions, fabrics, accessories…oh and warmth, don’t forget that one. One golden tip is that you don’t have to say ‘never’ to bare skin. Legs can hold their own pretty well against the cold. A leather mini-skirt, a basic T shirt and an oversized coat is the perfect winter uniform for me – even better in a monochrome palette. This faux leather skirt is a current obsession from Mad Love the Label, and a wardrobe staple for winter layering. Thought it might seem counter productive, when the temperature is a little more forgiving, I don’t mind baring toes in some open footwear. This pair was a steal from the Zara sales.

YESS!! A good coat is the only reason we regret being in Los Angeles lol. It’s just too hot to layer but we are so loving that coat. Wish we could pull it off! xx
I always thought I was meant for a colder area because I absolutely adore jackets and coats, but I really don’t know how you do it in Canberra. I always cringe when I see the temp on the news! Haha.
