Pressed Juices has been gaining heaps of hype in Sydney and Melbourne, and now, the cold press juices company has come to Canberra. I mean, it only makes sense. Canberrans are a health and fitness obsessed bunch, boasting more fitness professionals per capita than any other state or territory.
Yours truly was invited to have a tasting session at the first Pressed Juices store in Canberra, newly opened last Monday on Franklin Street, Manuka. The shop is seriously cute. While there’s no sit down menu as such, the store is complete with a lovely chill out area to, I suppose, be zen while contemplating which juices you want to buy. As for the rest, I’ll let the photos do the talking.
Pressed Juices Canberra stocks a full range of juices with various nutrient profiles, split into categories such as ‘greens’, ‘zest’, ‘Andiox’ and ‘Smoothies’. The juices are also especially designed to fit into Pressed Juices‘ cleanse packages – these are basically detox diets (called ‘juice cleansing‘ or ‘juices fasting‘) where you take only vegetable and fruit juices and no solid foods to flush out all the toxins in your body that builds up in everyday life. But even for those who can’t commit to an actual cleanse, let’s not take for granted that the juices are absolutely delicious. My favourites include the Green 4, which contains celery, cucumber, kale, lettuce, parsley, spinach and lemon and the Berry Glow 1, which is made with apple, lime and strawberries.
Whats ‘cold pressed’? It’s where ‘fresh fruits and vegetables are pressed using a hydraulic press juicer which applies a tremendous amount of pressure to extract the nectar directly from the pulp. That pressing action, instead of blending or grinding, won’t oxidize or degrade the fruit and vegetables and helps keep the nutrients and enzymes intact’ (from the Pressed Juices Website).
If you are interested in trying out a juice cleanse, the lovely staff at Pressed Juices Canberra are ready and waiting to talk you through putting together one of their bulk packs. There’s the basic cleanse for beginners and a master cleanse for the more hard core. I did personally take home a bulk pack, just because I’m now addicted to this stuff. As for the cleanse, I’ll leave that to the rest of you to try out.
Finally, let me just say what you’re all thinking: the beautiful bottles are Instagram porn material. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all over the #Canberra hashtag within the month.
Pressed Juices Canberra is located at Unit 1&2, 14-16 Franklin Street, Manuka.
