When Missguided asked whether I will be going hard or going home this Christmas, to kick off their ‘Go Hard Or Go Home’ project, you probably already know which camp I was in: 100% gone home and already in bed, surrounded by snacks, re-watching the complete Sailor Moon series. The only time you’ll see me ‘going hard’ is at a H&M designer collection opening, and even then I’m more likely to be in pajamas than some amazing outfit. However, you can never rule out the contingency that the desire to go out might strike at any time, so in choosing my outfit, I always opt for classic, and importantly, comfortable, pieces that can be made occasion ready with a few simple accessory changes. A pair of white skinny trousers is a great occasion neutral alternative when all you want to do is wear jeans, and a clean cut, classic trench coat is infinitely versatile.

1. Going Home

For my ‘Go Home’ outfit, I’ve slipped on my Adidas Superstars (from fellow style blogger Love Laura ALexa), and grabbed my lunch (bag clutch) in hand. I let the trench coat hang open to complete this decidedly casual ensemble. This heavy duty paper lunch bag clutch is a delightful new acquisition, available for sale in my blog shop.

2. Going Hard

I don’t drink, and I definitely don’t dance (for altruistic reasons), so ‘Going Hard’ in my world is an absolutely relative term. I’ll at least go so far as to slip on some playful shoes and switch to a classic black handbag. The block heel on these Missguided sandals are chic without the pain, and that faux fur detail – need I say more?
