As a tomboy at heart, the boxy silhouette is a refreshing escape from the conformist humdrum of cinched waists and skin tight dresses. But with slouchy pieces, it’s easy to lose yourself in the look, so how do you keep boxy shapes refined and feminine?
Going boxy always comes at the risk of looking frumpy (and not the good kind), so first up, the choice of luxe (or luxe looking) pieces is key. So always select the best fabrics and styles that fit your frame just right. I’ve got my Australian designer ducks in a row in pink blazer by YB J’Aime by Yeo Jin Bae from Jaz & Alex Boutique and Veronika Maine warp skirt. Second, the name of the game is ‘clean’. Boxy just isn’t compatible with bling and clutter, so keep it simple with some key pieces and fight the urge to add on layers or accessories. Third, the easiest way to keep your look feminine is to inject a few unmistakably feminine (aka: sexy-cool) elements. I’ve got a v neck happening by wearing my blazer as a top, and a pair of clear, barely there heels reign in a loosely fitting skirt.
