My pick of 3 winter outerwear essentials and Decjuba’s first boutique in Perth

Today’s editorial is all about Leathers, furs, and down – am I gunning for caveman-chic? Suffering from Game of Thrones delirium? Or simply piecing together a pretty darn perfect minimal winter wardrobe? All three, of course. To help spread the exciting news of Decjuba opening their first boutique in Perth (at Enex 100) later this month, I’ve been asked to style four winter looks worthy of Perth’s unique climate, and shoot it at iconic Perth locations too.

And my task to you is twofold. One. Prove you’re a true Perthie by guessing where in Perth I’ve shot the below four looks. Two. Get layering with my below picks of 3 winter outerwear essentials.

1The leather motorcycle jacket

The leather motorcycle jacket is number one on my list of must haves, full stop. The luxe but tough leather and edgy hardware makes it a statement piece on its own. It will not only keep you warm as the weather cools down, but will take any simple tee, tailored shirt or slouchy sweater to the next level of effortlessly put together. I’ve layered up my Decjuba leather motorcycle jacket with a skirt on pant look.

2The faux fur vest

I don’t agree with wearing fur unless it’s a by-product of food production. Therefore faux fur is my choice for getting that luxe fur look. For a temperate coastal climate like Perth, you won’t find many days where serious coating will be required, but a faux fur vest will allow for winter layering while being weather-appropriate. I’ve styled my Decjuba faux fur vest two ways. The first is a minimal black on black look for the cooler days, and the second is an easy throw-on-and-go vest and jersey dress combination.

3The puffer jacket

I love the sort of Soviet utilitarian look that a structured puffer jacket evokes. But frivolous style motivations aside, almost nothing else compares to its style x practicality factor. It’s light weight and breathable, meaning it keeps you just as warm as you need to be. This Decjuba short puffer jacket has an amazing quilted texture. I let it have the spotlight by keeping the rest of my outfit simple with a simple shirt and coated jean.
