As Garden City Perth Official Blogger, I’m bringing you the intel on this season’s top 5 versatile wardrobe essentials, in-stores right now
I’m excited to announce that for the next three months, I’ll be Garden City Shopping Centre’s official blogger. I’ll be combing the centre’s huge range of top fashion and lifestyle retailers to report on (and road test) the must have items, trends, and bargains you can shop right now. To kick off the month of July, I’ve put together my intel on the top 5 versatile wardrobe essentials this season has to offer.
The felt fedora
The fedora is a true classic that’s always in style. Because there are subtle variations in every design, it’s always important to try them on. My perfect hat is a medium brim with a statement band, and I found it in this wool felt number from Bardot at Garden City. At only $39.95, it was an absolute steal. Of course, while some brand make headgear available in different sizes (Witchery, for example), more often than not, it’s one size fits all. However, when one size does not fit all, there’s a trick to make a loose hat tighter.
The relaxed grey coat
A perfect coat is the most essential or essentials in your winter wardrobe, and this season’s superstar is the relaxed grey coat. It’s all about clean lines, relaxed tailoring, and minimal details. I saw beautiful grey coats at many Garden City retailers, including Sportsgirl, Witchery and Country Road. This luxe cocoon style is from Zara for just $159 – no wonder it’s selling out fast. Now is the best time to pick up some incredible bargains on Autumn/Winter gear, as the brands at Garden City are all having their massive end of season sales.
Loungewear basics
This year the loungewear-daywear blur has been a hot topic. Think cashmere cardis, tailored track pants and sleepwear t-shirts that take you from the chaise to the cafe. This slinky slouchy T-shirt is from Peter Alexander at Garden City (thanks to my photographer Jane for this hot tip!). The best part? It’s on sale, reduced to just $29.
The ripped black jean
I don’t say this lightly – black jeans look amazing with everything, but the ripped black jeans is by far the most versatile of all. It’s the ripped detailing that makes them so effective with any simple outfit, and I love the juxtaposition of clean tailoring against distressed denim. My jeans are the universally flattering High and Wasted Talk style by Ksubi (from General Pants Co.). As with hats, the jean fit is absolutely vital, so always try before you buy.
Sterling silver delicates
The right accessories can elevate any simple everyday outfit. I’m a huge fan of delicate and minimal designs that subtly blend with your outfit (and your personality), so that you always look put together, but never overdone. My Stirling silver pieces are from Michael Hill at Garden City.
