Wearing: Knitted Tunic & Skirt – Country Road (currently 25% off!); Converse All Star Canvas Sneakers – General Pants Co. both at Garden City Booragoon
What is ‘luxe’? A word used so frequently by yours truly to deconstruct the minimalism aesthetic, yet the satisfactory articulation of such was always just out of reach. When, there it was, concisely packaged up by Victor Alfaro – speaking of his AW15 knitwear-centric collection – ‘what is luxury?’ he hypothesised, ‘it could mean being comfortable’. Such a concept was so intelligible in the knits on bare skin at the beach vibes at Stella McCartney SS15, and the pointedly too long to be hip layers at The Row SS15.
The uncanny ability of Australian fashion labels to translate these high fashion ideals to wearable and livable apparel was really brought home to me when I visited Garden City Booragoon last week to check out this season’s offerings. Country Road does it so well, and has made show stoppers of richly textured knitwear that drape and conform lovingly to the body, and reveal in movement peeks of bare skin – an indispensable accessory in good knitwear styling. And yet all this may not be as strong a selling point as the 25% off all knitwear happening at Country Road at Garden City Booragoon at the very moment. And the shoe of choice is the classic Converse All Star sneaker all the way – these snapped up at Garden City Booragoon’s General Pant’s Co. boutique.
Everything I’m wearing is available right now at Garden City. The end of season sales are still on, with even further reductions, so I know where I’ll be heading tomorrow night!
