6 Budget friendly interior items to elevate your space, all available from Garden City Booragoon

Decorating your home doesn’t need to be expensive, but decorating your home on a budget doesn’t have to make your home look cheap either. By being a little bit of a treasure hunter, there are many surprisingly affordable interior accessories that can be found in often unexpected places. As I discovered, Garden City Booragoon is somewhat of a one stop shop for homeware shopping. Having combed its impressive range of interior retailers, I’m able to report on 6 key budget friendly interior items to instantly elevate your space, all available from Garden City retailers right now, from just $5.95.

1The cheap and chic side table

Side tables can make a room look instantly more ‘lived in’, and also presents another ripe surface to displaying the bits and piece that express who you are. It’s also one of those budget friendly interior items that can be found in affordable flat pack form. Mine was an amazing cheap and chic find from The Reject Shop at Garden City Booragoon, for (if you can believe it) $34.

2The statement quilt cover set

Your bed is the centrepiece of your bedroom, so choosing a gorgeous quit cover set can instantly transform the space. Kmart at Garden City Booragoon is a bit of a treasure trove of on trend bed linen at the moment. I love this two tone quilt cover set in a modern and minimal grid design, and it’s only $26 for a queen quilt and pillow cover set.

3Surprisingly affordable glass accessories

My favourite item of the moment is the glass cloche (yes, I had to Google the word for that!). It’s a great way to display (and preserve) your artisan candles (like my Dyptique candle from Mecca Maxima at Garden City). My cloche is from Bed Bath N’ Table at Garden City Booragoon, for only $29.95 (marked down on sale!). I also found little rustic sea shanty glass bottles from Bed Bath N’ Table, for just $5.95 each, and on trend marble design glass canisters from Adairs ($14.95).

4The DIY copper succulent planter

Copper succulent planters are what Pinterest porn is made of at the moment, so we’re expecting to pay designer prices right? When in doubt, DIY. My theory is that anything that is made to hold a candle is also destined to be a succulent planter. I’ve turned my Kikki K Svenska Hem 9cm tea candle holder ($19.95) and used up ‘Inspiration’ Candle ($29.95) into perfect little desktop succulent planters. Both were purchased from Garden City Booragoon. Given that the latter was a recycling job, I guess it’s technically free.

5The decorative hard cover book

I’m ashamed to say that while I don’t have much time to read, I’m always on the lookout for beautiful hard cover books in large part for their decorative value, especially in a colour scheme that matches the rest of my home. I love the ‘A Sentence a Day’ journal from Kikki K at Garden City Booragoon ($24.95), and for that matter, the whole ‘Minimalist’ collection.

6Decadent tea things

Tea is just such a homely and comfortable concept, so beautiful teaware and accessories make beautiful decorative pieces for the dining room and lunge. I can’t go past an antique look, and my Maxwell & Williams ‘Blush’ collection teapot and demi cup and saucers were only $43 together from Matchbox at Garden City Booragoon, thanks to their mid-year sale. Pretty tea canisters also make beautiful decorative features stacked together on a shelf, like the chic black tins from T2 at Garden City Booragoon, which are only $7. For that matter T2 teas themselves make gorgeous decorations, especially the Fruit Royal blend, which consists of deep red berries and flower petals ($13.50).

Ahw I love all your tips, they definitely make a room more homelier and personal! I’ve been contemplating on buying a cloche as well, but it’d probably just gather dust =/

That glass cloche cover thingy’s great buy and I’d imagine it’ll look great with an accessory tree or makeup brushes inside to keep the dust away. I must get my hands on them! But then again, I’m slightly worried I’d accidentally knock it off the table and smashing it up. And I’m absolutely loving that Reject Shop side table, so classy and such a great deal.
