How to Wear a Matching Two-Piece Set

Flash back to summer 2013, when the matching two-piece set was all about going double with the loudest print conceivable, and yours truly extended this philosophy to life in general back in those days (but one must not dwell on those past style faux pas!). Gaudy prints might be a waning trend, but the matching two-piece set is a true classic. Right now, it’s all about neutral colours and classic prints. Styling these, however, can be a little tricky. It’s so easy to look over-styled when going matchy matchy. So how to wear a matching two-piece set effortlessly for everyday?

First and foremost, opt for classic designs, colours and prints in your matching set, like my Staple the Label Inverse Stripe Top and Skirt. So, not only will they be easier to style, but they will also go double the distance as separates in your wardrobe rotation. Second, I suggest keeping accessories to a bare minimum (if any at all). To wear a matching set is a statement in itself, so a few of your signature jewellery pieces is all you need. I’ve added my Hello Parry double pearl earrings as a focal piece. As for the shoe of choice, I love paring my matching set with sneakers to really dress the outfit down. Then, swap in some heels and you’re ready for a night out.

What are your thoughts on the matching two-piece set?

I think it is pretty difficult to style “twin-sets”, but you did it perfectly!
