Comfortable outfits are not only in, but are the only kind you should be wearing

When the cult runway trends set to take high street by storm this year include fur loafers and luxe knitwear, and the likes of the house slipper and running shoe continue to transcend their quotidian functions to dominate the fashion week streetstyle circuit, the comfortable outfit is definitely in. Though for the minimalist, ‘in’ or ‘out’ is neither here nor there – an attitude given rise by a genuine ignorance of trends rather than a defiance – it has certainly made sourcing our favourite wardrobe staples that much easier.
The lounge to street stretch legging is everywhere to be found. And all the better in vegan leather finish, like this pair from Love Twain. Knitwear is also getting the high fashion treatment thanks to the circumspection of such visionaries as Perth’s own I Love Mr Mittens, and the truly enlightened Stella McCartney. Here is a clothing category for which appropriateness traditionally occurred in daylight hours on weekends only, which is fast becoming an occasion piece in its own right. Check, for example, this luxe-to-death cropped fluffy knit by Asilio the Label. On any winter night out I would choose this over a tube dress, and feel plenty sexy in it too.
Do you believe we can have both comfort and style?

I wouldn’t call leather leggings a comfortable item. But I do love the sweater.
Nothing is better than a comfy and stylish outfit.

Gorgeous sweater! It does look both comfortable and stylish! You make me want to hang out in a loft studio all day. The hat is the perfect addition

Love your look! In my case if I ‘m not comfortable in my clothes I can’t wear them or I won’t buy them! Simply because when you’re not comfortable, you don’t feel good and then it affects your mood and confidence. At the end of the day we wear the clothes, the clothes don’t wear us… This is why (comfort) Coco Chanel had so much success she liberated women from horrible corset and heavy gown.

Yesss you can totally be stylish and comfortable at the same time. I blogged about this too haha http://fixatedf.com/conquering-comfy-chic/ but i think it’s much easier to pull a look together if your aesthetic is clean and minimal. if you’re going for lady gaga at the vmas, i think discomfort is a prerequisite.
