Suede skirt over knee boot 70's trend outfit -1

The best of the 70’s trend, and where to find it at Garden City Booragoon

Wearing: Cropped white shirt – Zara; Suede Button Up Skirt – Sports Girl; Over the knee boots – Betts: all from Garden City Booragoon

For yours truly, who has been obsessed with the 70’s since coveting my first pair of flared jeans at 15 – and still hoping for a call from Charlie’s recruitment department – this year’s 70’s trend has ticked all kinds of sartorial boxes. As for buying into the trend, the key is to look for quality and classic designs that will synergise with your everyday wardrobe. Here are my picks of the best of the 70’s trend.

Sultry Blouses

The 70’s is all about loose and drapey tops. The peasant blouse or the off the shoulder top are just on time for spring, but if you’re looking a gentle nod to the 70’s trend, there’s also the ever-chic 3/4 sleeve shirt, like mine from Zara at Garden City Booragoon.

Suede Skirts

The flagship of the 70’s trend revival has got to be the suede skirt, particularly of the A-line mini variety. My suede skirt was love at first sight from Sportsgirl, at Garden City Booragoon. There are similar styles at Forever New, and faux suede versions at General Pants Co. and Bardot. Country Road is also stocking a gorgeous suede midi, for those who don’t prefer a mini length.

Over the Knee Boots

You might not think it, but over the knee boots are probably the most flattering of all boots on the leg. Betts  at Garden City Booragoon has boots on sale at the moment, and I scored mine at half price.

Flared jeans

Just a tip: for a flattering fit on your flared jeans, the leg should be at least as wide as your hip. Zara at Garden City Booragoon has flared jeans in all cuts and and fabrics right now, including faux suede, if you’re game.

Ahhh love this look! When I saw you were doing a 70’s look I wondered what you would come up with since that era was typically characterized by loud, flamboyant-looking pieces! Love how you paired the knee-high boots and button-down suede skirt (a little bit of a blogger trend at the moment, but you wear it well!) to create a classic, contemporary yet decidedly 70’s outfit! 🙂
