Tableware for an epic breakfast, and where to find it
Pieces pictured: Embellished Glass Bottle, Enamel Baking Dishes, Egg Cups & Wooden Serving Tray – Wheel & Barrow; Stove Top Espresso Maker – House; Copper Mugs – K Mart; all from Garden City Booragoon
While yours truly has learned what little she knows of table etiquette from re-watching Downtown Abbey for the nth time, if it’s one thing I know about breakfast it’s that you’ve got to go epic or go home. After all, breakfast is (technically speaking) the only time of day when you can eat what ever the heck you want. So bring on the fresh crusty bread with a healthy dollop of French butter, eggs, scrambled, creamed, sous-vide, fried and every other way known to man, and waffles topped with bacon topped maple syrup in a triumphant muddling of the sweet and savoury. Given my somewhat unhealthy fixation with the first meal of the day, as part of my collaboration with Garden City Booragoon this month, I’ve decided to put together an epic breakfast with tableware offerings from Garden City retailers.
I love the idea of mismatched tableware that befits a sort of a grown up version of the Mad Hatter’s tea party, combined with the rustic sentimentality of an old farmhouse kitchen. So for me, I’m immediately drawn to anything old world, from embellished glass vessels, wooden serving trays, nostalgic enamel baking dishes (Wheel & Barrow), to classic stove top espresso makers (House), and outdoorsy copper mugs (Kmart) – all these pieces found at Garden City Booragoon.
Speaking of occasions, will I see you at the Garden City Garden Party this Thursday night (10 September)?
