Sexy done the Minimalist Way
Wearing: ’Anne’ Boyfriend Shirt with Monogram – Anna Quan | ’Status Shift’ Bonded Warp Skirt – Asilio | ‘Willow’ Buckled Mules – Senso | Celine ‘Trio’ Shoulder Bag – David Jones (similar)
My love of minimalism, punctuated by textures, layers and forms, may well be incompatible with the archetypal ‘babe’ criteria, or, for that matter, the ‘wear as little as possible’ imperative of that high summer aesthetic (the latter is for another story). But it’s not that I am determined to be un-sexy.
For me, sexiness is not relative to the amount of skin you show, the tightness of your clothes, or the height of your heels. It’s something far more abstract, denoted by more than physical appearance alone. An air of insouciance bordering on tardiness, being and looking comfortable in lived-in jeans and classic sneakers, wearing a slouchy shirt on its last button of decency, tailored trousers topped off with a lively intellect – sex appeal as commentary on personality, and as a by-product of functional dressing. To me, that’s sexy done the minimalist way.
