The Grown Up Backpack in Tokyo
Wearing: Leather Backpack – Loxley England | Jeans – G Star Raw | Shoes – Senso | Cardigan & Scarf – Acne Studios
If you could for a moment, picture yours truly as a be-backpack-ed school girl, with pony tail tied tight and knee high socks pulled high. Back then, as much as ever out of step with trends, my backpack was K mart when others’ were Ripcurl; when others had them hanging almost to the floor, I had mine both straps firm on the shoulders in the most un-cool of ways. Though my refusal to conform to backpack etiquette earned me various clever turtle related nicknames, the minimalist (and renegade) in me will always maintain that style must be balanced with functionality.
Thankfully, I’ve graduated from the responsibility of carrying 5 kilograms of text books, but here on my travels in the Tokyo concrete jungle, my grown up backpack by Loxley England has been a faithful companion, it’s small scale size just right for my laptop and daily survival pack, and the streamlined form and design speaks authentically to that luxe minimalism aesthetic.
How to wear the grown up backpack? It’s all about setting the tone for work or play. Dress it off duty with knits and denim – wear it over one shoulder or both, or tote it by the top handle – then transform it for the office with sharp tailored pairings.
Shop Loxley England luxe leather bags on their website, and follow them on Instagram.

I am obsessing over your backpack! It is very minimal, which makes it even better. I have been using backpacks in place of purses for quite some time now, and I think they are so convenient and is a cool way to accessorize. Your overall look is great for fall and I love that you added cool leather gloves into the mix. Also, your shoes with the zipper detail are amazing. Great outfit!

Aw you’re so sweet, but that’s so not true! They are both Acne so maybe that’s why you like them ;D
Oh, I was so a Billabong backpack girl, though, we were only allowed the very unstylish maroon school backpacks in high school, emblem and all. Thank goodness I grew out of the surf wear stage though, as I now adore my black, leather backpacks that are far more stylish than almost all my bags. They have this too-cool kind of vibe nowadays that are hard to resist.
I adore your Tokyo styling babe!

Oh I remember the maroon backpacks. I can’t believe how back in the day we thought surf brands were the shit!
That backpack is everything! I’ve been searching for just that style for a while now. Keep it up.
