Two no fuss festive outfits for comfort and style this festive season

The Beige Renegade is not your regular human female (or male) – looking out of place at a party doesn’t phase her, because she just wants to feel like herself, and between stumpy legs and sore feet at the end of the night, the former is her lesser evil – so this is not your regular festive outfit style guide. Identifying oneself on the minimalist end of the sartorial scale means that tight waists, killer stilettos and tiny hemlines are likely not on high wardrobe rotation. So can a simple and comfortable outfit meet the ‘festive’ brief? Absolutely. Here are my no fuss festive outfits to inspire you for that year-end soiree.
Playful tailoring
Your choice of a party-appropriate silhouette is not limited to the archetypal body-con dress. Tailored pieces are the best of both worlds of style and comfort. Try a clean-cut jumpsuit for the evening-wear effect without the skirt ride-up blues, or a blazer in a breezy fabric to elevate the most casual basics for night. Choose unconventional cuts and shapes to up the ante – I love the cropped flared trouser, which is effortlessly sexy-cool with that playful flash of ankle. Finally, a conversation starting accessory piece will add that all important focal point. I personally have a thing for sculptural wrist candy.
The unsexy dress
There are more ways to do ‘sexy’ than for your clothes to cling to every curve. In fact, juxtaposition is often your most powerful tool, so a relaxed shift dress can make more potent a statement about femininity than a bursting décolletage or a forget-about-breahing cinched waist. Add to that, a strategic deep-v and skirt splits to casually reveal just the right amount of skin. I am currently obsessed with this Third Form jersey dress, which can be worn back to front for two neckline effects.
As for my party shoe of choice to top off that festive outfit, if high heels are a definitely prerequisite, it’s got to be the chunk heel mule, which will give height without the pain.
