LXÈ: an Australian label to watch. Read on to find out why!
Wearing: ‘Dona Ana’ Culottes; ‘Causeway’ Leather Pants; ‘Wooldridge’ Leather Jacket – all LXE
As profound as ponderings in idle Facebook chats on work time can be, mine of late have been on the existential state of the Australian fashion industry; on how, despite many highly successful exports to the world stage, its tradition is one of risk aversion and rolling with pop culture tides (to where the profits are). It is therefore a sigh-worthy observation, that the throng of Australian fashion labels simply cycle through social media validated product archetypes. For the glass-half-full-er’s, this may be the ideal environment for standing out. And eager hearts like that of yours truly is ready and willing to be courted: by the new and unexpected, that (ideally) first offends conditioned tastes, and shortly thereafter engenders true obsession.
One Australian label that I’ve fallen in love with this year is LXÈ – one look at their new smoldering campaign shoot, you will too. In its first year on the scene, LXÈ has floated the line of fitting in. Its modus operandi is mastering the classics while innovating in fabric and construction. Case in point: their inspired green leather jacket, elevated by meticulous rib detailing which gives it its sculpted form; the riff on a classic split culotte that hits the spot of androgynous cool; the most flattering leather pant that is relaxed and fitted in all the right places.
